"On Watch"

$1,295.00

The Lesser Yellowlegs are beautiful little shorebirds that travel from their breeding grounds in Cananda to South America and back again every year. Almost hunted to extinction, which was made easy by their desire to stay by their fallen comrades, they rebounded. Unfortunately, the population is back in decline due to the loss of their wetland habitat and they have been placed on the “tipping point” species list as they have lost 50% of their population in the last 50 years. I really enjoyed painting this flock, showing their sense of community as one stays alert, allowing the others relax. This is something we see in our own human communities.
